The morning started with breakfast at 8, later than the day before. We were all taken aback to find decorative bushes and candles in place of the buffet. However we were pleasantly surprised when we were served up with a seven course breakfast which included banana pancakes and fresh strawberry juice. Deliciouso!
After that we packed up and walked down to the bus stop to catch the public bus. We were all very anxious that we might miss the bus but in the end it was 30mins late. We didn't complain, instead we invented the rock olympics whilst sat on the floor (coming soon to BBC 1).
When the bus came there were people sitting in our reserved seats so there was a bit of confusion and hassle trying to get people to move. It all worked out in the end and we were able to sit back, relax andwatch an extremely violent Chinese film with Spanish subtitles for the next 3 hours. And when a family sitting next to us started suffering from the effects of motion sickness they were very grateful for our wet wipes and sick bags!
When we arrived in Tena we all went to the toilet which charged depending on what you wanted to do! No 1 was 10c and No 2 was 20c. Then we stopped off at the supermarket to stand under the air con to cool off. Whilst there we also picked up snacks and sweets before heading into the unknown of the rainforest.
Delfin (the head of the family we were staying with) drove us to Casas Pimpilala, which means 'butterfly' in Quichua - the language they speak here. We were greeted by rain and many beautiful butterflies. The place really does live up to its name!
After lunch (lentils and rice) those of us that were feeling adventurous went on a long walk up a stream. There were many obstacles along the way like having to walk along a fallen tree trunk over a mini waterfall. There were many opportunities to get wet but the best by far was a waterfall that had a small cave behind it. We all came back absolutely drenched!!! On the way back Orlando, Delfin's son in law, cut some clay out of a rock and gave us all a face mask.
We all very exhausted after such a long and eventful day that after dinner the majority went straight to bed. Dinner finished at 7:30.
