Day 2 - Exploring Baños on Saturday night

We eventually arrived in Baños, and made the decision to quickly drop our bags off at the hotel and use the coach driver's very generous offer to drive us into town and do some exploring!
It didn't take long for us to experience some pretty awesome things. We watched someone jump off a bridge (attached to a harness - don't worry) which we were told is a very popular activity for local thrill seekers. Carlos and Franklin brought us some Granadilla to try, a fruit we thought was quite similar to passion fruit, which we all eagerly ate. Some of us were a bit less eager to try another local delicacy we
came across...Guinea pig! But there were a fair few of the group who gave it a go, and I think there were mixed reviews in the end (haha). We then had a look around the cathedral and got some good snaps of the beautiful art work. Carlos and Franklin gave us loads of interesting info about Ecuadorians and their Catholic traditions. Then we got some free time to explore ourselves - some of us wandered around the parks, some of us made good use of our dollars and bought some goodies.
As we were wandering along the streets we saw lots of locals enjoying some land trains like the Flintstones bus and Rhino bus and passengers were eagerly waving at us - and we waved back. Sharon said, "that looks like fun, would you like to go on it?" We could not believe our luck and eagerly jumped aboard the caterpillar train and our driver wound us around Baños streets - where we danced and waved with the locals.
Finally it was time for some dinner, and we ALL enjoyed some lovely "authentic" food...yes, chips and chicken and nachos are definitely authentic. Although some were more adventurous.
With our tummies full, all the 30 odd hours of travelling were beginning to hit us and we were all pretty pleased to head back to the hotel and basically pass out in our beds!
