Spectacular Ecuador Adventure: Planning and Preparation Event

We are a group of 18 Girlguiding Senior Section members and 4 Leaders from across London Over the Border County (East London and West Essex area). We are celebrating 100 years of The Senior Section by visiting Ecuador in August 2016. We will be staying with a community deep in the Amazon, exploring the Andes and working with The Book Bus on two service projects in the Galapagos. We plan to develop our understanding of the challenges that tourism brings to a delicately balanced environment.

Planning and Preparation Event

At our April Planning & Preparation event we cooked a variety of foods from Ecuador, proved we could swim 50m unaided, planned our itinerary, wrote our group charter, determined our kit list and agreed what community projects we would like to do. We developed some ideas for our Activity Pack which is designed for busy leaders looking to plan a single evening based on the theme of Ecuador, the Galapagos and the Book Bus charity. We also had a video conference with one of the leaders who was overseas working and got to know each other better.
